Bath City Work Experience
2022
GRAPHIC DESIGN
Towards the end ofthe 2022 school year we were asked to get 60 hours of work experience, for the last 30 hours I found a placement with Bath College's football club alongside a team of 4 others. We focused on designing elements while another team gathered content to use with said elements.

After finishing Anubis Production's work for the week, I came onto doing some experience for Bath College's related football team Bath City Academy. We split into two teams, people who were focused on graphic creations and those who focused on photography and gathering video content. For the first day and second we communicated with the other team to see when they could get the content to use for the graphics and found we would be waiting until the third day. Because we couldn't put photos into graphics right away we choose to do work on subjects that wouldn't need - mainly making a logo and banner with placeholders for photos. For this I did some background research into Bath City and Bath City Academy and how we could design the logo as well as colours that we should focus on using. I compiled process outlines as I did work to show some dilligence and as proof of our work - furthermore I evaluated each day as we went along. Along the sides and belo you'll find some templates and finished work with the photos - additionally you can read in the pdf process outlines about how wwe went about adding photos into the templates (we revisited a few days after essentially).
For the next few days we had recieved most of the work from the second team, they continued to gather photos we could use and we started to put them together in various ways - the main focus at first was figuring out the most effective graphics for a football social media account - namely for Twitter as this was their main channel of broadcast. With this in mind we optimised graphics for twitter and focused around potential events that could happen both in and out of the games. This was essnetially everything such as training days, goal scores, halftimes, full-times and when match daays would take place.
We tried different approaches and put them all forward. For my approach I focused on keeping the style we had the bold red contrasted with the black and white/grey theme of the club to catch attention. I put these in various forms over the next few days from making goal, half and full time graphics designed in similar methods with different pictures. Alongside this I also tried to go out of this theme with making use of other training pictures by adding text like 'Bath City' or 'Training' to practice text interaction with photos. Finally I experimented with using photoshop to make a gif format for a gamesday graphic - hoping to catch more attention with a less static graphic.
All of which you can see below!

Overall, this work really challenged me as I don't enjoy football so I often had look beyond thee scope of my knowledge and find examples or come up with different ways to approach pieces. It was also good to get a feel of working within a group and communicating to a field team.
In the end not many graphics were used apart from the logo but, it was used as a banner - I'm not sure why especially since I labeled it as a logo and labelled the banner as a banner but, it's not your choice - it's the clients.
I deem my work a success because I managed to mold myself to the required objectives and work to the best of my ability within the week allotted for work experience, this required good time management alongside dilligence and creative thinking.
