Anubis Productions Work Exp

2021

GRAPHIC DESIGN

Towards the end ofthe 2022 school year we were asked to get 60 hours of work experience, for the first 30 hours I found a placement with my teacher who was looking for students to design an indent, letterhead logo and a showreel.

I started working on a letterhead logo for Anubis productions and was given a certain set of instructions for what our teacher wanted - they wanted Papyrus font with an egypitan theme and the rest was up to the designer. So I started by looking around for profeessional free to use assets that could be of use to me, eventually I found a few options but, had to make sure they were free for commerical use. In the end I found one website - Pixabay.com that had an anubis asset that wwas free for personal and commerical use. I also experimented with placing textures within text and trying various strokes to create different effects. On the left you'll see a more detailed explanation of how the logos came to be and on the right you'll see the finished project. Additionally, these letterhead logos where actually choosen to be used by my teacher!

The next work I did was an Indent, this is essentially a short introduction to a company at the start of a film - think when you go to cinema and see the 20th Century Fox start-up or something similar to that. I tried to keep it on an Egyptian theme here by setting the indent in a tomb, additionally I focused on a pixel art scene. Firstly I created a canvas in photoshop and focused on making a corridor with torches, this starts with making the wall and the basic outline before colouring it in and then folloing suit with the flames - I also tried to animaate the flames by using different layers of fire and switching between them to make them animated - finally the scroll effect comes from after effects which essentially reuses the graphic endlessly to make it seem we're moving down a corrridor.

The Next scene is simply in the chamber of anubis - here I've just done the same where I made the base, filled the colour in and then added animations to the flames. Furthermore I added an animation that dims the screen and adds a glint to anubis's eye to end the Indent. This Indent wasn't chosen to be used however, I appreciated the chance to apply learning Pixel art to some form of work.

Finally, we were given an editing task of putting together a showreel from the work our teacher had done over some of her acting. The editing techniques I used very very basic and I won't go into detail about them. Howwever, you can still see the showreel here as an example that I do have some skills with moving image.

Overall, I was very happy with the work I did for Anubis productions - even morre so happy that one was choosen to be used for letterhead correspondence. I think the logo turned out better than I thought it would, the indent could be perhaps more appealing by changing the medium and the showreel could be more interesting if we had more footage (sadly was limited to two clips as one clip was too long to download). all around a success with chance to experiment to what a client wants rather than designing for yourself.
